The company has lived until 1997 when it was split into several companies: General Semiconductor which was then acquired by Vishay Intertechnology in 2001, CommScope and systems NextLevel Systems. General Instrument (NextLevel Systems will be renamed to General Instrument Corporation) Corporation was later acquired by Motorola who renamed Motorola Connected Home Solutions and Home and Networks Mobility in 2007. Moses Shapiro, father of Robert B. Shapiro (former director of Monsanto), was president from 1969 to 1975. Frank G. Hickey was CEO from 1975 to 1990, Rumsfeld took control à1993 1990.
