Inductors, Coils, Chokes

Inductors are passive electrical devices that store electrical energy by means of magnetic fields. Inductors are often called "coils" because an inductor is essentially a long, insulated wire coiled around a tube or an iron rod. An inductor coil can be constructed with a length of insulated wire and a toilet-paper tube. To use the inductor, the wire ends must be stripped of insulation, and the electrical circuit must be connected to these ends (which serve as electrical leads).
